Kitten

Congratulations on your new kitten! The first 4 months are often the most critical in the life of a cat, kitten wellness visits are designed to help get your kitten started on their healthy life journey. Many devastating diseases strike early, therefore preventative medicine is essential. It is strongly recommended to initiate a vaccine program by 8 weeks of age, earlier if the mother is not current on vaccines. We can give you the support and tools necessary to help your kitten grow into a healthy cat, including information and advice on vaccines, preventions, insurance, nutrition, litterbox training, and behavior.

Until your kitten has received a series of vaccines, he or she is susceptible to many serious but preventable diseases. We will make sure your new pet is protected against rabies and panleukopenia (distemper). Maryland state law mandates current rabies vaccination, whether the animal goes outdoors or not. Depending on your cat’s risk, we may also advise vaccinating him or her against other diseases, such as feline leukemia virus (FeLV) and feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV). In addition, your kitten will need to be tested for parasites, which are common in young cats. We look forward to meeting your new kitten, schedule your appointment today!
